Emil Kahn

Ron Grünberg, Founder & Designer

About the Designer

Emil Kahn is the classic luxury brand of Ron Grünberg, a singular designer and jeweller working and raised in Manhattan's famous Diamond District. Inspired by his grandfather Emil's immigrant story as a textile merchant and clothing designer, from Europe to the USA, from the 1920s through the 1950s, the collection showcases clothing and sporting items from the era meticulously handcrafted in 18K gold, silver and precious stones. Grünberg's creations are imbued with a reverence for tradition and uncompromising quality, himself having been trained in his father's engagement ring business, first as an apprentice, then as a salesman, designer and gemologist.

Slightly Subversive is proud to feature the Emil Kahn Cufflink Collection, first launched by Bergdorf Goodman in New York City nearly two decades ago and now available online for the first time. "They're links to past generations," says Grünberg. "When you think of French cuffs and cufflinks, you think of handed-down elegance, of being taught by your father and grandfather, of days when gentlemen would "dress the hand." Previously featured in GQ, Vanity Fair, and Hamptons Magazine, we're confident you'll agree that Emil Kahn's exquisite three-dimensional designs are worthy of their reputation as "the finest cufflinks in the world."
